Emotional Intelligence and its Relation to the Quality of Life for a Sample of the University Students

Abstract

 
This study aimed at investigating the relationship of emotional intelligence to the quality of life for university students, according to some demographic variables including (gender, specialization, place of residence, economic level). This is in addition to investigating the possibility of predicting quality of life through emotional intelligence. The study sample consisted of (485) students from South Valley University in Qena. Their ages ranged between 18-23 years. The study tools included an emotional intelligence scale and a quality-of-life scale prepared by the researcher.
The study reached  the following findings: there is a positive correlation between emotional intelligence and quality of life, there are no statistically significant differences in emotional intelligence according to the variable of gender. There are significant differences. There are no statistically significant differences in emotional intelligence and quality of life according to the variable of the economic level. There are no statistically significant differences in the emotional intelligence variable according to the place of residence variable. There are statistically significant differences in quality of life according to the variable of place of residence in favor of urban residents. The findings also revealed that emotional intelligence could contribute to predicting the quality of life among students of South Valley University in Qena.
