The spatial poem in the poetry of Muhammad Afifi Matar: A critical approach

Abstract

This research is interested in approaching the spatial poem in the poetry of Muhammad Afifi Matar, as the place was widely manifested in the poet's texts, through his various collections such as (Features of the Face of the Om bedocles, and You Are One of Them and Your Members Are Scattered, and the Celebrations of the Savage Mummy, ... and other poetic works of the poet himself. The research relies on the descriptive analytical approach, using the procedures of semiotic narrative theories in reading the spatial poem. The research came in an introduction and three demands, while the introduction dealt with the importance of the research, its questions, and its objectives, its scientific hypotheses, and its method, then the demands came as follows: The first demand: the concept of the spatial poem, the concept of poetic space, the second demand: the open place (the village, the homeland, the street, the Nile), while the third demand: the closed place (the prison, the cemetery, the house). Among the results reached by the research, the spatial poem represents one of the aesthetic phenomena that the poet Muhammad Afifi Matar relied on in constructing his poetic poem by summoning places The most influential in his private life. The research revealed the types of poetic space in the poet's texts through the closed space and the open space, which contributed to the spatial diversification in the different structures of the poem. Then it was proven by the sources and references on which the research relied.
