This study attempts to present the phenomenon of animal humanization in the children's theater of Fawzi Khader. Talking through the animal’s tongue and making it a main character in presenting events was not something new, but rather an artistic method followed since ancient times. This phenomenon was found and read in the literary productions and ancient works that was loaded with what authors liked, such as wisdom, sermons and advice, and it was taken as a means to reveal facts and fix matters in an indirect symbolic way and different connotations. A child is fond of hearing and reading events narrated by animals and birds, and perhaps this is what prompted the authors of works directed to children to resort to this method in order to achieve their goals and inculcate their moral, cultural and social values in them, develop their knowledge, and satisfy them with a set of sound educational behaviors that are commensurate with their chronological age and their mental and linguistic level. The world of animals is wide and includes many different species that vary in shape and character, and thus attracts children to it strongly. The study focuses on a set of important questions:
What animals did Fawzi Khadr employ in his plays? How did it appear in the text?
Are they different from what was settled in the minds of children?
Are the characteristics of animals frequently mentioned in the texts fixed and unchangeable?
Did their repetition carry new ideas?
Are there multiple functional goals for each animal?
To what extent has Fawzi Khader succeeded in addressing the idea of humanizing animals in his plays?
The study aims to answer these questions by reading the theatrical texts analytically, using the inductive approach as well as the analytical approach that explores the literary text and surrounds it through its various aspects in order to clarify the phenomenon of animal humanization and how to employ it technically and semantically to express the writer's ideas.
