Spatial assessment of the effect of geographical controls on the efficiency of the Damanhour-Abul Matamir road

Abstract

This research deals with the evaluation of the Damanhour-Abu El Matamir road, one of the most important cross roads in Buhaira governorate, with a length of about 46 km and a width of about 8 m, and how to develop and raise its efficiency. Because it suffers from several important problems, such as: many frequent traffic accidents, the length of the travel journey it takes to reach the area to be reached; As a result of many geographical factors affecting the movement and efficiency of the road, the weaknesses that the road suffers from in its general characteristics, in addition to the road being directly affected by heavy transport vehicles and the occurrence of many accidents on the road links, and the extent of the impact of the quality of road lighting, and the assessment of the safety and security of the road in relation to various services such as educational services represented in schools, and agricultural uses Industrial and commercial areas distributed on both sides of the road, which affected the road clearly in all its parts.
This research aims to assess the efficiency of the Damanhour-Abu El Matamir road map and to identify weaknesses in the road in order to develop proposed solutions to improve the performance of the road. To achieve this goal, the research relied on several approaches, including: the descriptive approach, the historical approach, and the regional approach, with the help of research methods such as the field study and the questionnaire. Designed scientific, GIS and remote sensing method.
