Abstract

This study aims at trying to identify the ontological nature of qualia among contemporary philosophers of mind. In order to achieve this goal, it was necessary to unveil the concept of qualia, its origins, and its roots. Then we present the views of contemporary philosophers of mind regarding qualia, where we find that there are two conflicting trends regarding the ontological nature of qualia, namely: the first direction, which believes in the existence of qualia and considers it to be              realistic and the second trend that opposes the existence of qualia, and views it as a pure fantasy. Therefore, it was necessary for the researcher in this research to present the views on which each of these two directions was based, and then present his point of view regarding these two conflicting directions, trying to make an epistemological approach between these two directions, as will be seen through this study.
