The relationship between cognitive-emotional regulation strategies and premature ejaculation indicators

Abstract

The current study sought to investigate the association between cognitive emotional regulation strategies and indicators of premature ejaculation in a group of male couples. The study sample included 1611 married male participants with an average age of (32.54) years and a standard deviation of (5.90) years. The sample was subjected to a battery of psychological tests, including the emotional regulation strategies scale, the Arab scale for assessing indicators of premature ejaculation, and the demographic data form. The tools' psychometric effectiveness was confirmed, (1) There is a significant negative correlation between negative emotional regulation strategies and the majority of indicators of premature ejaculation, with the exception of the psychological hardship index, which was associated positively, (2) The total number of positive emotional regulation strategies was positively and significantly associated with most indicators of premature ejaculation, with the exception of the psychological hardship index, which was negatively related.
