Parental violence and its relationship to the child's access to his social rights: A field study in Al-Ahsa, Saudi Arabia

Abstract

The study aimed to identify the relationship of parental violence to the child's access to his social rights, including his right to express his opinion freely and his right to obtain a positive family upbringing.  Among the most important findings of the study:
that (41.8%) of the study subjects practice violence against their children by beating, which is the highest percentage of physical violence, while insulting and cursing came at a rate of (35.8%) of verbal violence, and it became clear that (70. 1% of the mothers are interested in knowing everything related to the rights of the child, while (50.0%) of the mothers do not care about those rights.
    The researcher recommended paying attention to enhancing families' awareness of the effects of parental violence against children, activating the role of family counseling centers in enhancing family awareness of the effects of parental violence against children, and emphasized the role of the media to play its role in raising awareness of children's rights.
