Abstract

The current study aimed to investigate the relationship between mental capacity and both perceptual load and cognitive control among university students. The study sample comprised 120 male and female students from South Valley University in the academic year 2022-2023, aged between 19 and 23 years, with a mean age of 20.5 and a standard deviation of 987. The psychometric properties of the study instruments were verified, including John Bascalliony's Mental Capacity Scale, translated by Esaad Al-Banna and Hamdi Al-Banna (1990), the Perceptual Load Scale developed by the researcher, and Ahmed Hilal's Cognitive Control Scale (2012). The findings revealed a statistically significant correlation between cognitive control and levels of mental capacity (high, moderate, low) and cognitive load.
