Illegal immigration and the risks of human trafficking in light of the current developments Repercussions and coping mechanisms: A field study on a village in Dakahlia Governorate.

Abstract

The current study aimed to provide an integrated picture of the reality of the phenomenon of illegal immigration in Egyptian society, reveal the reasons and motives that lie behind the continued escalation of flows of illegal immigrants, and reveal the risks resulting from the association of this phenomenon with human trafficking crimes and its repercussions on both the exporting and receiving countries in light of developments. And the current challenges that the region is going through in general, and Egypt in particular, and to evaluate the effectiveness of international and Egyptian efforts in confronting this phenomenon.
 
The study used the descriptive analytical method and used a case study using an in-depth interview guide, which was applied to (25 cases) of young people who went through the experience of migration. The field study was applied to the village of Talbana, affiliated with the center of Mansoura - Dakahlia Governorate, and the study reached results, the most important of which are: that the phenomenon of illegal immigration is still continuing and on the rise until the present time, despite the efforts made by the state to confront it. For this phenomenon, the study revealed the current challenges that have strongly influenced the rise in rates of illegal immigration and the risks of human trafficking, the most important of which are the economic crises and escalating inflationary pressures, the global pandemic Corona and its economic repercussions, and the security unrest in Libya that has doubled the activity of migrant smuggling and human trafficking networks, digital technologies. Technology has posed a serious security challenge and increased the seriousness of the crimes of migrant smuggling and human trafficking through cyberspace.
