Abstract

This research tackles the topic of  ethics according to Spinoza and its importance in achieving peace and harmony among people. The researcher will address Spinoza's opinion about good, evil, and happiness. He believed that good and evil should be viewed from a moral perspective, not in terms of the distorted provisions of religion, which conflict with what is moral in order to achieve political goals and personal interests. According to Spinoza, Evil is every action that causes harm to others, and its opposite is good, which is every action that brings joy and happiness to others, and this is what Spinoza urged. A person must strive for everything that is good and achieves happiness for himself and for others, and must stay away from every evil action. Furthermore, Spinoza also thought that the emotions of sadness and joy that a person is affected by are closely linked to the external world in which one lives. The more the world in which a person lives is a world in which the necessities of life are available to a person, the easier life will be for a person. Accordingly, his satisfaction with the world and others surrounding him will increase.. According to Spinoza, joy occurs when the soul moves to a higher perfection, and sadness occurs when the soul moves to a lower perfection.
