The Intercession with King Abdul-Aziz Al Saud: An analytical study

Abstract

This paper examines the issue of intercession with King Abdul-Aziz Al Saud. As it is important to understand the nature of the intercession and evaluate its consequences, it begins with an introduction to the meaning of intercession and its position in Islamic jurisprudence followed by an examination of specific cases of King Abdul-Aziz’s intercession. Through this study, the subjects, causes, participants of some of these cases will be discussed; the results of their acceptance or rejection, and the significance thereof will be demonstrated. King Abdul-Aziz was a living example of forgiveness and compassion. He never hesitated to accept intercessions on behalf of other as long as they were for the public good and did not cause harm to anyone. He also did not hesitate to intercede with others if necessary. Subjects of King Abdel-Aziz’s intercession varied, ranging from religious to political and social and participants and included scholars, rulers, leaders, intellectuals, and others who contributed throughout the stages of the intercession, its acceptance or rejection down to its results and repercussions.
