Effectiveness of Counseling Program in developing psychological stiffness of psychosomatic patients

Abstract

The research aimed to identify the effectiveness of Counseling program in developing  the psychological stiffness among psychosomatic patients. The study actual sample consisted of (6) psycho-somatic patients.
The researcher used the quasi-experimental method , and used the single group design through a pre, post, and following tests. To achieve the research objectives, the researcher prepared the following scales: psychological stiffness Scale (prepared by the researcher), Psycho-somatic Symptoms Scale (prepared by the researcher), Counseling Program (prepared by the researcher). The following statistical methods were used to verify the research results: Wilcoxon's Test for significant differences among the study sample, eta squared equation to measure the effect of counseling program in developing psychological stiffness. The research concluded the following findings: There were statistically significant differences between the pre- post scores of the Psycho-somatic patients on the psychological stiffness Scale and its dimensions, in the benefit of the post application. ETA values ​​indicated that there was an average effect size, and there were no differences between the post-measurement and the continuous measurement: which mean the effect of the program continued with the sample.
