Dialogue of Civilizations in the Philosophy of Roger Garaudy (from a truly speculative and critical perspective)

Abstract

This research detects a French character of a special nature, he is the Truth seeker in its clear ideological form, the philosopher Roger Garaudy.
According to Garaudy, the dialogue of civilizations does not only constitute a speculative theoretical and intellectual position, but it also constitutes a high position from the standpoint of practical application, because civilization is the civilization of a human being who actually lives on this earth.
Garaudy wanted to follow the study of civilizational dialogue in its dimensions in order to reform the world, through his tireless attempt to clarify the extent of the failure of the idea of civilizational clash. In this, we see Garaudy - clearly - a character who seeks with all rationality and cognitive effectiveness to clarify the importance and even the inevitability of civilizational dialogue, that is, the interaction of civilizations and not Its clash, friendship of civilizations, not its aggression.
The research reveals that Garaudy is against the worship of west although he is a French westerner, based on his objective criticism of what is happening in Western attitudes towards the whole world and towards the East in particular. Therefore, Garaudy believes that the West is an emergency symptom that must disappear, as it will undoubtedly reach dissolution.  
Garaudy sees this is what will happen for the Western scene because from his point of view, the West is primarily responsible for the backwardness of the Third World, and in fact, it is the creator of backwardness. Garaudy harshly fights the power of the West's alleged superiority complex. Therefore, Garaudy’s ideology orientation is the issues of humanity at the forefront. He seeks a humanity without wars or conflicts.
The researcher wanted from this research to put a new imprint on Garaudy’s thought, and also to unveil the ambiguity it includes, therefore, the appropriate method is the critical analytical approach, according to which we can access the multiple dimensions of Garaudy’s civilization theory and criticize them.
As for the results of the research: they are many and we mention them as examples but not limited to...

Garaudy is classified, in our view, as Contemporary existentialist who investigates issues of public existence and human existence therefore, he is a philosopher of positive values: the values of truth, justice, equality, freedom, and virtue. He is also against everything that is negative.
Human according to Garaudy is the creator of history and civilization, that’s why he is expected to be constantly effective and active and able to make the future with an optimistic, predictive outlook of a special and serious nature.
Garaudy had his own thoughts, opinions and biases in accordance with his ideological vision, his deep study of civilizations, their structural form and content and his true awareness of them.
Emphasizing the failure of Western civilization - as the Garaudyan view sees it - because its foundation is weak, in addition to its alleged feeling that it is the strongest, and even the superego dominates it.

 

A sincere call from Garaudy to all of us to awaken cultural awareness and restructure it in a manner consistent with stopping at a certain point or stage, without moving to another progressive stage.
If Garaudy believes that the clash of civilizations is a struggle to stand against Islam and Asia, then the researcher sees the opposite, because it is neither a religious clash nor an ideological conflict, but a political, military, economic, and cultural conflict in the first place.
