Service and entertainment allocations for the Umayyad Caliphs

Abstract

The Umayyad caliphs benefited from the service specializations which are decreed for them by the Islamic jurists even if such specializations were different in their quality and quantity from that service  specializations in the era of the Prophet (Muhammad) (Peace and Blessings be Upon Him) "PBUH" and his glorious caliphs. This is in addition to having other service specializations which are necessitated by the political conditions experienced by the Islamic State. This is in addition to the requirements of natural development of states through experiencing the path of urbanization and civilization. In addition to such service specializations, The Umayyad caliphs had other entertainment specializations whose purpose was either for practicing sports or for satisfying their desires in beautification, make-up and perfuming and their desires to possessing everything which was expensive and unique. Books of history and chronologies are full of such news which manifested, illustrated and highlighted such specializations and their description through shedding light on the nature of building, constructing, decorating, and highlighting majesty and prestige of the king and through focusing on illuminating how much was spent throughout the Umayyad era.
