Abstract

This research examines the distribution of voters in the electoral districts of Libya. Voters were distributed according to the legal age of each voter, and their characteristics within the electoral districts were studied using historical, descriptive, and analytical methods. A future map of electoral districts and voters was created. The study revealed several research results on the geographical distribution of electoral districts in Libya, summarized as follows:

Libya was divided into three geographical regions: Eastern, Southern, and Western. The Eastern region contained four general districts, the Central and Southern regions included three general districts, and the Western region comprised six general electoral districts in 2012 and 2014.

Libya had approximately 1,544 polling centers, with an average of 21 polling centers for each sub-committee of the general committees across the country. The Eastern region had 419 polling centers, while the Central and Southern regions had 184 polling centers with an average of 18.4 polling centers per sub-district. The Western region had 941 polling centers, representing two-thirds of the total centers in the country, with an average of 20.9 polling centers per sub-district within the general electoral districts of Libya in 2012. In 2014, the number of polling centers increased to 1,886, with some districts containing between 40 to 45 polling centers per district, such as Misrata, and most other districts having between 30 to less than 40 polling centers per district.
