Syntactic Structures of the Terms of ‘shelter’: A Descriptive Analytical Study of the Different Types of the Term and Issues in the Holy Qur’an and its Recitations

Abstract

This is an applied study that investigates different syntactic structures and issues concerning the terms of shelter in the Holy Qur’an and its recitations. The study examines the Qur’anic similarities through exploring similarities and differences in sentences of shelter. Having some problematic issues in this area of investigation is what urges me to conduct this research.
This paper aims at describing different types of syntactic structures of sentences of shelter and the effect of the Qur’an recitations on the syntactic structures.
The approach applied here is the descriptive statistical one that shows the following findings: nominal sentences that include words of shelter have similarities in the usage of the word ‘shelter’, and there are different structures of the ‘shelter’ nominal sentences because of the different cases of ‘waw’ ‘and’ that may occur before the word ‘shelter’.
The paper also finds that there is a strong connection between ‘waqf’ and ‘wasl’ in shaping the structure of verses of ‘shelter’. In addition, the number of nominal sentences of shelter is twenty two sentences. The number of verbal sentences is nineteen sentences in the Holy Qur’an. Moreover, the verb of shelter can be ditransitive. 
The research criticizes some of the syntacticians’ views concerning the shelter sentences. I concluded the paper giving some recommendations for further applied studies for researchers.
