In this research, I dealt with the traditional intertextuality in the arts of the waw and the mawal among the poets of Qena and Luxor governorates, and I narrated the intertextuality with popular proverbs. It is a huge reserve and a valuable treasure of peoples’ wisdom and experiences over the years, and the synthesis of human thought, and then intertextuality with traditional figures. Among these characters are; Characters inspired by the Hilal biography, and others from the famous characters of love and love. The intertextuality was through projecting onto these characters by mentioning their names or by mentioning one of their sayings or one of their actions, then intertextuality with poetry in all its forms, which is the Diwan of the Arabs.
The intertextuality of the text with ancient Arabic poetry. Because it contains multiple human experiences and does not intertextualize with it for the purpose of replacing the present with the past, but rather aims to add authenticity to the present text, and intertextuality is through quotation, referral, and suggestion.
The poets of the art of waw and mawal intertextualize with the heritage, its poetry, its proverbs, and its traditional characters, to add to their poetry the sincere wisdom that a person needs to interact with their poetry.
