Demographic and social characteristics of the population in my cities (Qena, New Qena)

Abstract

There are a set of demographic and social characteristics for the cities (Qena and New Qena), the most important features of which are summarized as follows:

1) The number of male residents exceeds the number of female residents within the “city of Qena”: by about 51.3% for males and 48.7% for females.

2)The age group (15-65 years) represents the largest age group present among the population within the city of Qena, at a rate of about 63.9% of the total population in the city. The main base of the population within the city is young people.

3) The population with “intermediate” educational qualifications represents the largest percentage of the population within the “City of Qena”, at a rate of approximately 35% of the total population of educational age within the city.

Those working in the economic activity “services” represent the largest percentage of the workforce working within the “City of Qena” (15 years and over), at a rate of 59.1% of the total workforce working within the city.

Workers in the profession of “specialists in scientific professions and others” represent the largest percentage of the occupational composition of the population in the city of Qena, at a rate of 27.9% of the total number of workers in the main professions (15 years and over) within the city.
