Psychometric properties of the psychological hardship scale in mothers of children with intellectual development disorder

Abstract

The current study aimed to identify the psychometric characteristics of the psychological hardship scale among mothers of children with mental development disorder. The study sample consisted of (50) mothers of children with mental development disorder aged between (23-64) years, with an average age of (38.50) and a standard deviation of ± (9.59) years. The psychological hardship scale prepared by (the researcher) and the demographic data form prepared by (the researcher) were applied to the sample. The psychometric properties of the psychological hardship scale were verified by using the method of internal consistency and apparent honesty (arbitrators' truthfulness) to measure honesty. Cronbach alpha method, and half-segmentation to measure stability. The results of the current study reached a scale that enjoys apparent honesty (arbitrators' sincerity) and internal consistency veracity, and enjoys stability in the Cronbach alpha and half-segmentation methods, and showed high validity and stability on the sample of mothers of children with mental development disorder. It can be used in educational and psychological studies and research that deal with measuring the psychological hardship of mothers of children with mental development disorder to provide counseling and treatment services in order to achieve mental health and social compatibility for them.
