Abstract

The aim of the current research is to identify the relationship between some cognitive distortions and body dysmorphic disorder among a sample of university students, and to reveal the relationship between self-monitoring and each of some cognitive distortions and body dysmorphic disorder among a sample of university students, and finally to reveal the role of self-monitoring in modifying the relationship between... Some cognitive distortions related to body dysmorphic disorder among a sample of university students. The study relied on the self-monitoring scale (prepared by the researcher), the body dysmorphic disorder scale (prepared by the researcher), and the cognitive distortions scale (prepared by: Islam Al-Assar, 2015). The study sample consisted of (373) Participants from South Valley University students from four colleges at the university, and the results of the study showed the following: 1) There is a positive, statistically significant relationship between cognitive distortions and body dysmorphic disorder among a sample of university students, 2) While the results showed the existence of a negative, statistically significant relationship between self-monitoring and everything Of cognitive distortions and body dysmorphic disorder among a sample of university students. 3) Finally, the results showed that statistical isolation of self-monitoring weakens the relationship between some cognitive distortions and body dysmorphic disorder among a sample of university students.
