Abstract

The research deals with: an introduction that includes the elements of the research, then a preface that gives a brief overview of the poet Abdul Sattar Salim, as well as a definition of reference in language, terminology, its benefit, types, and its effect on the cohesion of the text, then an applied study of reference by pronouns through the poet's poetry, and the results of the research are many, the most prominent of which are:
- That reference is one of the most important means of textual cohesion, "and it is one of the important criteria that contribute effectively to textual efficiency, that means is one of the most important multiple and diverse means of verbally casting phrases without wasting the coherence of the information underlying them."
