Attitudes towards abuse of psychotropic and psychological substances in young people

Abstract

The current research aims to identify the attitudes of young people towards the use of psychotropic and psychological substances, as well as to reveal the differences in their attitudes according to the variables (age, profession, educational level, social status). The descriptive approach was used, and the research sample consisted of (251) young people in the Jazan region. The scale of psychotropic and psychological substance abuse (prepared by: Saabi, 2022) was used. And using one sample "t" test, independent samples "t" test, and one-way anova. It was concluded that there is a low level of youth attitudes towards the use of psychotropic and psychological substances in the Jazan region. The results also indicated that there are no statistically significant differences in youth attitudes towards the use of psychotropic and psychological substances attributed to age, profession, and social status, and there are statistically significant differences in youth attitudes towards the use of psychotropic and psychological substances attributed to the educational level.
