Abstract

This research studies the textual interaction in al-Manam al-kabeer by Rukn al-Din Muhammad bin Mehrez al-Wahrani (D. 575 AH), which is a unique text rich in diverse connotations closely related to many previous, contemporary, and subsequent texts, as well as creative and pragmatic. It also employs several artistic, poetic, and thematic phenomena which makes it a pivotal and pioneering text.

The research explains the different patterns of textual interaction that contributed to forming the final and complete structure of this target text, which is a narrative form with distinct characteristics, even if it is conflicted by other forms that differ according to the recipient’s admiration, cultures, ideas, and visions to increase the text's richness and generate different interpretations.

The research is based on the patterns of textual interaction identified by Genette and concentrated on dividing the textual interaction into two parts that constituted its two main topics, namely, the systematic textual interaction and the contextual textual interaction, which required the deep reading of many texts such as the Holy Qur’anic verses, the prophetic hadiths, poetic texts, and literary books with different contents.
The research has an introduction that explores the nature of textual interaction, and its patterns according to Genette, and two sections that include seven axes. The first section entitled: Systematic textual interaction or intertextuality including three axes: forms, types, and patterns of intertextuality.
The second section is entitled: Contextual textual interaction, and it includes four axes: parallel text, metatext, textual interrelation, inclusive textuality, and a conclusion.
