Abstract

The study of social harm has gained significant attention in recent years, seen as an outlet of the critical perspective in criminology and criminal justice field, focusing on the various ways in which harm is inflicted on individuals and communities, as a result of structural factors and practices committed by governments and institutions. Therefore, the current study, being exploratory in nature, surveyed the heritage of studies, books, scientific journals, and articles that addressed the topic of the study, with the aim of providing a clear picture of the concept of social harm as one of the latest sociological concepts in the field of criminology. It is considered an important analytical approach and framework for understanding the impact of social, economic, and political factors that cause harm, most of which fall outside the legal framework. The study aims to provide crucial insights for the development of social and criminal policies in facing the problems that contemporary societies face; with the aim of enhancing social justice and achieving well-being and equality
