Pro-Social Behavior and its Relationship to Academic Adjustment among High School Students in Jazan region

Abstract

The study aimed to identify the level of pro-social behavior and academic adjustment, and to investigate the relationship between them, and to investigate statistically significant differences in pro-social behavior and academic adjustment due to gender and academic grade among High School Students in Jazan region. The descriptive approach was used, as the study sample consisted of (405) High School Students in Jazan region. In order to achieve the research’s aims, the scales pro-social behavior (prepared by the researcher) and academic adjustment (prepared by: Abdul Wahed and Ali, 2014). The results showed that there were a high level of pro-social behavior and academic adjustment. The results also showed a statistically significant positive correlation between pro-social behavior and academic adjustment. Finally, the results indicated that there were significant differences in empathy and tolerance attributable to gender, and there were no significant differences in altruism, co-operation and The total score for pro-social behavior  is attributable to gender. It is also showed that there were significant differences in empathy and tolerance and the total score for pro-social behavior  attributable to the academic grade, and there were no significant differences in altruism and co-operation attributable to the academic grade among secondary school students in the Jazan region. It is also showed that there were no significant differences in academic adjustment attributed to gender and academic grade among High School Students in Jazan region.
