Abstract

This study aims to identify the factors influencing the distribution of postoffices in the rural areas of Itay-ElBaroud Markaz, analyze their spatial distribution and assess their efficiency and service coverage. It Additionally evaluates the adequacy of post offices, examines customer characteristics and satisfaction levels, identifies key challenges they face and measures the concentration of these issues across the different areas of Itay-ElBaroud Markaz. Furthermore, the study analyzes the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and challenges of postal services, evaluates the current geographical distribution and proposes an optimized model to ensure equitable access.
The researcher primarily adopts a descriptive-analytical method and employs multiple methodological frameworks, including the behavioral, historical, systemic and thematic approaches. Various techniques were utilized such as; field surveys, statistical analysis, cartographic analysis, Geographic Information System (GIS), Remote Sensing (RS) and the Global Positioning System (GPS).
The study reached several key findings, as the following:

There are 16 postoffices in the rural areas of Itay-ElBaroud Markaz, all classified as third-class offices.
El-Dahriya postoffice serves approximately 11.5% of total postal service customers in rural areas, followed by Nakla El-Anab.
Postal service coverage is relatively extensive in the eastern parts of the Markaz, whereas the central northern regions suffer from inadequate service.
The most frequently reported customer complaint is long waiting times.
The primary challenge for customers is the limited office space, followed by the lack of designated waiting areas.
The study proposes establishing six new postoffices in underserved villages that meet the four criteria set by the National Postal.
