Abstract

The study commences with an introduction outlining the research objectives, methodology, and a brief overview of al-Waʾwāʾ and his Dīwān. Then, it tends to go deeper of point under advisement: the concept of infinitives, their types—both derived from hearing (samāʿī) and analogy (qiyāsī)—and their structures, whether triliteral or non-triliteral. In addition, selected examples from the Dīwān are analyzed with an explanation of their semantic implications. The study came up with several findings, illustrated through charts and diagrams presenting the results in percentages.
