The Big Six Personality Factors as Predictors of Counseling Competence among Female Student Mentors in the Jazan Education Department

Abstract

The research aimed to investigate the relationship between big six factors of personality and counseling competence, and verifying the possibility of predicting the counseling competence Through the big six factors of personality among female student mentors at the general administration for education in Jazan Region. The descriptive correlational approach was used, and the research sample consisted of (353) female student mentors at the general administration for education in Jazan Region, and the research instruments consisted of Two measures of the big six factors of personality and counseling competence (prepared by the researchers). The results showed that there were statistically significant positive correlation between neuroticism, extroversion, openness to experience, conscientiousness, and the total score of the scale of the big six personality factors with the total score of counseling competence. And there was no statistically significant correlation between the acceptability-kindness and honesty with the total score of counseling competence among female student mentors. Finally, the results showed that the total score of Counseling competence can be predicted through the total score of big six factors of personality among female student mentors at the general administration for education in Jazan Region.
