The study deals with digital violence against women in terms of its factors and effects from the point of view of a sample of community members in Sohag Governorate to identify individuals’ perceptions of digital violence against women. The sample size was (453) individuals, taking into account that the sample frame includes the age group from 15-59 years. The study relied on the descriptive approach and the social survey with a random sample, and the data were collected through an electronic questionnaire.The study found a number of findings including: that the meaning of digital violence against women is obscene, offensive or racist comments against women through the Internet and the most widespread form of digital violence is electronic blackmail. Factors that have led to the prevalence of digital violence against women in society include weak religious and moral consciousness,youth unemployment, under-reporting of crime and delayed marriage age. While the factors that make women vulnerable to digital violence include excessive trust in others, the incorrect use of social networking sites, the girl’s lack of experience with the nature of others, and the desire for a relationship and marriage, while it turns out that among the factors that push a person to commit digital violence is the satisfaction of sexual desires and achieving financial profit. Women's exposure to digital violence also entails many risks, including psychological, social and economic effects.
