Abstract

This study aims to analyze the transformations in poultry production in the Birma subdistrict of Tanta District during the period from 2013 to 2024. It focuses on the rates of change in production, the influencing factors, and the associated economic impacts, with the goal of providing recommendations to support this sector. The findings revealed notable shifts in the production of various poultry types. There was an increase in the production of broiler chickens, table eggs, brooded native chickens, and ducks, whereas the production of fattened native chickens, fertilized native eggs, and chicks declined. Moreover, rising production costs and market price volatility led to higher retail prices for poultry products, particularly chickens and eggs. Some poultry farms transitioned to alternative economic activities, while others, such as local hatcheries, ceased operations entirely. The study concludes with a set of recommendations aimed at promoting the development and sustainability of the poultry production sector in the study area.
