Abstract

This study aims to unveil the manifestations of psychological alienation in the poetry of King Yūsuf III, with a view of highlighting the most significant of these manifestations. It also attempts to reveal the reasons behind King Joseph’s feeling of psychological alienation, as a result of the calamity and suffering to which he was exposed, and how he coped with it. Additionally, the study analyzes the prevalence of vocabulary denoting grief and sorrow, which reflect his psychological estrangement through his poems. It focuses on a distinguished Andalusian literary work, namely the Dīwān of King Yūsuf III, and adopts a psychological approach in its analysis.
