Abstract

The research aimed to identify the effectiveness of simple sports activities in reducing hyperactivity among children with autism spectrum disorder in Jazan region. Therefore, the quasi-experimental approach with one group and multiple measurements was used. The research used the hyperactivity scale for children with autism spectrum disorder was used (prepared by Ali, 2016), and a training program based on simple sports activities consisting of (17) sessions were designed by the researcher. The research tools were applied to the experimental group consisting of (4) children with autism spectrum disorder, who were selected intentionally from the Umm Al-Mu'minin Khadija bint Khuwailid Center in Jazan region. The results showed that there were statistically significant differences at the level of hyperactivity between the pre- measurement and post-measurement for the post-measurement on the hyperactivity scale for the experimental group because of using simple sports activities among children with autism spectrum disorder in the Jazan region (p<0.05).There were no statistically significant differences in the level of hyperactivity between the post-measurement and follow-up measurements on the hyperactivity scale for the experimental group because of using simple sports activities among the study sample. This indicates the effectiveness of simple sports activities in reducing hyperactivity among children with autism spectrum disorder in the Jazan region.
