Cultural-Intelligence and its Relationship with Generalized Anxiety Disorder in a Sample of Sudanese Refugees

Abstract

The current research aimed to identify the relationship between cultural intelligence and generalized anxiety disorder in a sample of Sudanese refugees residing in Giza and Aswan governorates, and to identify the differences between the study variables due to the gender variable. The current study relied on the descriptive comparative correlational approach that is consistent with the study objectives. The sample size was (120) Sudanese refugees, including (46) males, (74) females , ranging in age from (18: 60), with a mean age of (33.8), and a standard deviation of (10.2). The researcher prepared a basic data list. The researcher also used the Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale (prepared by the researcher), which consists of (38) items. The cultural intelligence scale prepared by . (Ang., et al 2004) was also used, which consists of four basic dimensions: (meta-cognitive dimension, cognitive dimension, motivational dimension, behavioral dimension); The study found a statistically significant correlation between cultural intelligence and generalized anxiety disorder at a significance level of (0.01). The results showed no differences in cultural intelligence and generalized anxiety disorder due to the gender variable
