Abstract

The research tackles events that took place between the wars of the tripartite aggression on Egypt in 1956 and June 1967 which played an effective dangerous role in paving the way for the 1967 war. Such events are the introductions to that war. In addition, such events are regarded as History of Silence in contemporary Arab history, as we can deduce and analyze from those facts the changes that become very clear on the world map Particularly the region of teh Middle East.
Recently, many analyzes and comments have been made about the crisis that preceded the June 1967 war, and its repercussions on the Middle East region in particular, and the world as a whole. A great controversy has also been raised among historians as well as cultural circles about that crisis. Such controversies were perhaps due to a misunderstanding of historical developments and the current situation. This could also be because of the existence of Israel in the concerned region. Furthermore, the movement of history of global changes and transformations, whether intellectual, cultural, political or social, in light of the presence of various ideological paradoxes and multiple ideologies prevailed in several Arab countries during that period. The matter that led to political disputes that made relations between The Arab regimes entered into a cold war, and the matter between them reached a dead end in light of constant threats from the Tel Aviv administration. Accordingly, this is regarded as the problem of the study which is mainly represented by the Abdel-Nasser regime’s mismanagement of that crisis, especially since its escalatory decisions led to a military confrontation, and before tackling this topic, the researcher found it necessary to shed some light to the theoretical framework of the crisis.
That crisis was a fateful turning point in the course of the event, and this is what is known as it being characterized by a noticeable improvement or a sharp delay, and as being an influential variable followed by a number of changes that changed the situation of the region. Although there is no clear definition of the crisis, this term has become used in various branches and several divergent disciplines of human Sciences. This term has also come to mean a set of sudden circumstances and events that entailed a clear threat to the stable status quo in the nature of things, which is the critical point at which the fate of a development is determined, either for the better or for the worse (such as life or death, war or peace) in order to find a solution to a problem or to lead to its climaxing explosion. Anyway, administration of crisis is not a new concept in international relations, but it was basically found in the heart of balance mechanism in Europe as multiple dimensional diplomacy succeeded in preserving peace before the wars of Napoleon. In addition, levels of a crisis are the strategic basis, planning for emergencies and sphere of operations. This is how the administration of Cairo (i.e. Abdel-Nasser's regime) failed to handle the May crisis. However, this regime adopted the method of confrontation and climaxing the crisis. This is what the current research aims to tackle through analyzing Abdel-Nasser's regime failure in handling and managing this crisis. This is the main problem of this study.
