This scientific review aims to analyze the scientific production published in Arabic and English in the field of Chat-GPT technology in the field of libraries and information in Arabic and English. The purpose of this review is to stand on the reality of intellectual production during the period from 2021 to 2024 published in various information sources, in order to determine the basic characteristics and features of this production from the objective, temporal, linguistic, and qualitative aspects. The importance of this review lies in the extreme importance of Chat-GPT technology in the field of libraries and information, which imposes the endeavor to stand on its great advantages that can represent a huge qualitative shift in the field of services provided by libraries and information institutions to beneficiaries.
The researcher conducted a survey of (58) sources of information related to this intellectual production through three areas: Chat-GPT applications, technical operations in libraries, and library and information services. The researcher also followed the bibliographic bibliometric approach in the statistical analysis of intellectual production, and the descriptive analytical approach to the characteristics of this production, after searching in the various sources of this intellectual production across various websites and global databases. Scientific journal articles, conference research, and books were examined, while summaries of university theses and book reviews published on the Internet were excluded. The most prominent results of the study include a lack of intellectual production in the Arabic language, and the recommendation of the importance of continuing to study global experiences in the field of using Chat-GPT technology in libraries to identify lessons learned, deal with the challenges it imposes, and seek to develop a code of conduct to ensure respect for confidentiality and privacy.
