The current study aimed to identify the contribution of some verbal and non-verbal communication skills in a sample of medical professionals; The sample included (100) medical professionals (nursing - doctors - administrative work) in the age range between (23: 60) years, with an average age of (36.8) and a standard deviation of (9.9); They were selected from medical professionals at university hospitals and the general hospital in Qena and Luxor governorates. The verbal and non-verbal communication skills scale prepared by (Nader Fathy and others, 2019) was applied to them, and the professional competence scale prepared by the researcher. The results showed a positive relationship between the dimensions of communication skills combined (effective communication in body language, speaking, listening and persuasion) and the total score of communication skills and professional competence. The results showed differences between males and females in each skill of speaking and persuasion and the total score of communication skills in favor of males, and no differences in effective communication in body language, listening and professional competence. The results showed no differences according to the marital status (single-married) in all verbal and non-verbal communication skills in their dimensions and professional competence. They also showed differences according to the age variable in all effective communication in body language and the total score of communication skills and professional competence in favor of older age groups (from 48: 60); and no differences in speaking, listening and persuasion skills. The results showed no differences according to the job type variable (nursing- doctors- administrative work) in the study variables combined. They also showed statistically significant differences according to the years of experience variable in each speaking skill and the total score of communication skills in favor of the number of years of experience (from 6: 10), and no differences in effective communication skills in body language, listening, persuasion and professional competence. Finally, the results showed the contribution of the dimensions of verbal and non-verbal communication skills and their total sum in predicting professional competence in the study sample..
